Dvele Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Dvele fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 – $10,620 fully installed, depending on linear footage, post type, and whether we’re replacing a failed section or running a complete perimeter. We install and repair Dvele-compatible fencing components, and the crew on your job is background-checked, uniformed, and carries what they need on the truck. Most owners discover a problem the same way: a gate drags, a post leans after rain, or the bottom rail rots where sprinklers hit it every night.

Which Dvele Models This Applies To

Dvele builds panelized, factory-finished homes with integrated fencing details that differ from production tract builds. The fence systems on Dvele’s Southern California projects typically use either painted steel posts with horizontal wood or composite infill, or full-height vertical slat privacy fencing with concealed fasteners. That concealed fastener design is the compatibility gotcha: the channel spacing is set at the factory, so off-the-shelf boards from a big-box yard often don’t seat correctly without planing or ripping. We check the post-set back dimension and board reveal before ordering anything.

If you’re unsure what you have, look for the engraved spec tag on the inside face of a gate post or the underside of a bottom rail. It lists the series code and the fastener spec. If the tag is gone, measure the gap between boards; a 3/16-inch reveal is the standard Dvele spec, while a 3/8-inch reveal usually means the fence was site-modified after move-in. For replacement boards, we source marine-grade composite or cedar that matches both the reveal and the original color batch. OEM direct from Dvele is available but slower and pricier; a quality aftermarket equivalent often arrives in three days and carries the same structural performance when milled to spec. Penhallow Remodeling is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Dvele.

Signs Your Dvele Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Gate drags across the top of its arc. The hinge-side post has moved out of plumb, usually because the footing was poured too shallow for Los Angeles’s expansive clay soils. In neighborhoods like Woodland Hills and Encino, winter rain causes clay to swell and shift; a 24-inch footing fails long before a 36-inch one.
  • Bottom rail feels soft or crumbles under a thumbnail. Sprinkler overspray is the culprit in most LA yards. Dvele’s concealed-channel design traps moisture at the rail, and once rot starts, it travels horizontally.
  • Boards rattle in the channel. The factory-installed rubber gaskets dry out and shrink in the heat, especially on west-facing fence lines in the Valley. Once gaskets fail, boards work loose and the fence loses its clean, seam-free face.
  • Post shows rust staining below the cap. Even powder-coated steel gives way eventually near marine air. For homes in Playa del Rey, Mar Vista, or anywhere within three miles of the coast, salt fog cuts the expected coating life roughly in half. We spec a marine-grade finish on those replacements.
  • Fence panel leans as a unit after a storm. When one full section moves together, the issue is usually soil saturation, not the post itself. A retaining edge or additional drainage may be needed before we reset the section, otherwise you’re fixing the same lean every spring.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Los Angeles Dvele fence work, you can expect these line-item ranges:

  • Full perimeter installation, 120 – 200 linear feet: $4,130 – $10,620
  • Single failed post replacement with footing repair: $470 – $1,180
  • Bottom rail replacement, 8-foot section: $295 – $710
  • Full gate rebuild with new hardware and adjustable hinges: $850 – $2,360
  • Composite board swap, per board: $70 – $165

What moves the number: linear footage drives material cost faster than anything else. Access matters too; if we have to hand-carry materials up a hillside lot in Silver Lake or Echo Park, labor hours go up. Post footing depth and drainage work are the other variables. Every quote is a written, line-item number delivered before we start, and the price on day one is the price on the invoice. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to every fence installation we do: if the work fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing, on every job.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check one thing before calling: walk the line and note which posts are out of plumb, which rails have rot, and whether any boards rattle when you tap them. That list helps us quote accurately over the phone. What I wouldn’t recommend is digging out and re-setting a failed post yourself. The removed post is load-bearing for the entire panel run, and if the footing isn’t poured correctly for the soil you have, the new post shifts within a season. Same goes for gates under spring tension; the hardware is under load and a slipped post cap can send a gate into a walkway. Give me the whole picture first, then we pick up the tools.

If you’re not sure whether the problem is the post, the rail, or the soil under both, call us at (936) 259-2607. We’ll schedule a free estimate, look at the full fence line, and give you a written number before any work starts.
