Cover Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Cover fence installation in Los Angeles typically costs $4,130 to $10,620 for a complete replacement, with most homeowners paying around $6,500 for a standard 100-foot vinyl fence. We stock Cover-compatible fence components in our Los Angeles service area and can usually have a technician out within two business days to assess what’s failed and get a written price in your hand. Most Los Angeles homeowners call us when they notice a leaning section, a cracked post, or hardware that’s no longer holding panels square after a few years of sun and soil movement.

Cover, known primarily for its outdoor living structures and shade products, also produces fence systems that we see regularly in Los Angeles backyards, particularly in neighborhoods like Tarzana, Encino, and Sherman Oaks. The failure pattern is predictable: UV degradation on the post caps, expansion and contraction from our hot-dry summers, and occasional ground shift in hillside areas like Mount Washington or Eagle Rock. When a Cover fence part fails, the whole run often needs attention, because panels are designed to work as a system, not as standalone pieces.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover’s current fence line includes three product families: the Cover Classic series, the Cover Horizon series, and the Cover Estate series. Each series uses a different post profile and panel connection system, and the parts are not interchangeable between series. The Classic uses a 4-inch square post with a slide-in panel channel. The Horizon uses a 5-inch post with a snap-lock rail bracket. The Estate is the heaviest of the three, with a 6-inch post and through-bolt panel mounting. If you’re not sure which series you have, look for the label on the inside of a post cap or check the top rail for a stamped series code.

We also see older Cover fence installations from before the current naming system, usually identifiable by a round post profile rather than square. Those are the Cover Legacy line, discontinued around 2019, and some Legacy parts are no longer manufactured. For Legacy fences, we typically recommend a quality aftermarket equivalent rather than tracking down discontinued OEM stock that’s been sitting in a warehouse for five years. For current-series fences, OEM Cover parts are worth the premium because the tolerances match exactly and the UV-stabilized finish is consistent. Penhallow Remodeling is an independent contractor and not affiliated with Cover, but we source both OEM and proven aftermarket components depending on what your specific fence needs.

Signs Your Cover Fence Installation Is Failing

Here’s what we see most often in Los Angeles, with the underlying cause spelled out:

  • Leaning posts at the corners or gate hinges. This is almost always a footing issue, not a post failure. In Los Angeles clay soil, footings poured too shallow shift during wet winters. The post itself may still be fine, but it needs a new, deeper concrete footer.
  • Cracked or brittle post caps. UV exposure in Los Angeles is relentless. Cover’s older post caps were not all UV-stabilized, and after four to six years they crack and crumble. The fix is straightforward: new caps, which we keep in the truck in three standard sizes.
  • Panels rattling or sliding out of the rail channel. This is usually worn or missing channel clips. It’s common on the Classic series where the slide-in channel relies on small spring clips that corrode over time, especially near irrigation overspray.
  • Gate sagging or dragging. Cover gate hinges use a threaded pin system that slowly works loose. If someone keeps hanging a heavy planter or tool rack on the gate, it accelerates. Usually the hinge can be rebuilt, but sometimes the gate frame itself has twisted and needs replacement.
  • Discoloration or chalky residue on panels. This is oxidation of the vinyl surface. It doesn’t compromise strength immediately, but it means the protective top layer is gone and the panel will become more brittle over time. If the fence is more than eight years old, this is often the point where replacement beats repair.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Los Angeles homeowners, a Cover-compatible fence replacement runs $4,130 to $10,620 installed. That range covers both partial replacements where a few panels and a post need swapping, and full runs of 100 feet or more where every post, panel, and gate component gets replaced. The biggest cost drivers are linear footage, the specific Cover series you have, and whether we’re rebuilding the footings. Gate replacement adds anywhere from $350 to $1,100 depending on width and hardware.

Here’s how the pricing breaks down:

  • Partial repair (1-3 panels, 1-2 posts): $4,130 to $5,900
  • Mid-size replacement (40-80 feet, no gate work): $5,310 to $8,260
  • Full run replacement (80-150 feet with gate): $7,080 to $10,620

Every quote includes parts, labor, debris hauling, and a written line-item price before we start. You don’t pay a deposit until you’ve approved that written number. And every fence replacement we do in Los Angeles carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect a Cover fence yourself. Check the post caps for cracks, look at the footing for visible sinking, and wiggle each panel to see if anything is loose. Those checks take fifteen minutes and tell us a lot when you call. The actual replacement work is a different story. Fence posts in Los Angeles are typically set 18 to 24 inches deep in concrete, and removing an old footing cleanly requires a jackhammer and some careful work around irrigation lines and utility marks. Trevor Nash has watched enough homeowners crack a sprinkler manifold or rip an old galvanized drain line to know that the DIY savings disappear fast when you’re digging out a repair in a trench.

If you’re comfortable replacing a rail clip or a post cap, that’s genuinely a homeowner-level fix and we’ll tell you exactly which part to order. But for anything involving footings, gate re-hanging, or more than two panels, call us at (936) 259-2607. We’ll come out, look at the whole fence line, and give you the whole picture first, then we pick up the tools.
