Sterling Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If you have a Sterling kitchen and you’re facing a failed cabinet hinge, a warped drawer front, a cracked sink basin, or hardware that’s gone loose after years of daily use, we stock and install Sterling-compatible replacement parts and full kitchen remodels throughout Los Angeles. A complete Sterling kitchen remodel in Los Angeles typically runs $16,520 – $53,100, depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and whether we’re replacing parts or rebuilding the entire layout. Most owners discover a part has failed the same way: a drawer starts sticking, a hinge sags, or a sink rim separates from the counter and water starts finding its way underneath.

We’re an independent remodeling contractor, not affiliated with Sterling, but we work with their cabinetry, sinks, and hardware every month. The good news is that most failed parts don’t require a full remodel. A hinge swap, a drawer track replacement, or a sink re-seat can bring the whole kitchen back to solid for a few hundred dollars instead of a few thousand. Trevor Nash has been working on Los Angeles kitchens since he was a kid watching his uncle gut ranch houses in Reseda, and he’ll tell you the same thing he tells every homeowner: give me the whole picture first, then we pick up the tools.

Which Sterling Models This Applies To

Sterling kitchen products in Southern California fall into a few broad categories: Sterling cabinetry (often found in tract homes built between 1985 and 2010 across the San Fernando Valley, Glendale, Pasadena, and the South Bay), Sterling stainless and composite sinks, and Sterling bath-to-kitchen crossover fixtures. The cabinet lines most commonly seen in Los Angeles are the frameless full-overlay series and the older face-frame units with concealed Euro hinges. The compatibility gotcha owners run into: replacement hinges and drawer glides vary by door thickness and overlay measurement. A hinge made for a 3/4-inch full-overlay door will not seat correctly on a 5/8-inch door, and the wrong glide leaves the drawer face proud of the cabinet by an eighth of an inch.

To identify what you have, pull one hinge and look for a stamped manufacturer code on the cup, then measure the door thickness and the overlay (the amount the door overlaps the cabinet box). That three-number set is what determines the correct replacement. For sinks, the key spec is the outer rim dimension and the number of basins, not the model name. Sterling’s composite sinks use a specific clip-and-bracket mounting system that’s different from the epoxy-and-weight method used on cast iron. If you’re replacing a Sterling sink with a different brand, the countertop cutout almost always needs adjustment, which is a detail most big-box installers skip. We also stock and install parts compatible with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone, so if your remodel mixes lines, we can keep the hardware consistent.

Signs Your Sterling Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • A drawer that sticks or drops on one side. This almost always means a roller or ball-bearing glide has worn out or a mounting screw has pulled loose from the cabinet wall. Ignoring it leads to a cracked drawer box, which costs three times as much to replace as the glide itself.
  • A cabinet door that won’t stay closed or hangs visibly crooked. The spring mechanism inside a Euro hinge fatigues after 15 to 20 years of use. On Sterling face-frame cabinets, the hinge plate can also work loose from the frame, especially in Los Angeles homes where dry indoor air and summer heat cycles expand and contract the wood.
  • Water staining or swelling at the bottom of a sink base cabinet. This is the classic sign that the sink rim seal has failed or the drain collar has loosened. In our Los Angeles service calls, this is the most common Sterling-specific failure we see, because the original composite sink mounts shift slightly with thermal expansion and break the silicone bond.
  • Soft-close mechanisms that slam shut. If your drawers or doors used to close gently and now don’t, the damper inside the glide or hinge has blown. On Sterling’s soft-close hardware, the damper is a small plastic piston that’s not serviceable; the whole hinge or glide gets replaced.
  • Laminate or thermofoil peeling on door edges. This shows up first on the doors nearest the range and dishwasher, where heat and steam work at the adhesive layer. Once peeling starts, the door face is done. We can order a matching door from the same manufacturer often, but color match on 20-year-old thermofoil is not always exact.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what Sterling kitchen work costs in Los Angeles when we do it, with the price written down before any work starts:

  • Cabinet hinge or drawer glide replacement: $120 – $450 per hinge set or glide set, including parts and labor. Most kitchens need 8 to 20 hinges replaced at once to keep the reveals even.
  • Sink re-seat (same sink, new seal, new drain collar): $350 – $700. This includes pulling the sink, cleaning the old adhesive, remounting with fresh sealant, and testing for leaks.
  • Full sink replacement with cutout adjustment: $950 – $2,600 depending on countertop material. Quartz and granite cutouts require a diamond blade and dust control; laminate is faster and cheaper.
  • Door or drawer front replacement (match-ordered): $180 – $520 per front, including hinge or glide transfer and final alignment.
  • Partial kitchen refresh (hardware, sink, backsplash, counter resurfacing): $4,720 – $15,340.
  • Complete Sterling kitchen remodel in Los Angeles: $16,520 – $53,100. The spread comes down to cabinet construction, countertop material, whether you’re moving plumbing or electrical, and whether the existing floor needs repair under the old footprint.

Every one of those numbers is a written price, not a verbal ballpark. You get the number before we pull the first hinge, and it matches the invoice at the end. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to parts work the same way it applies to full remodels: if a hinge we installed fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. If a repair fails, the second visit is free too, no service call and no re-inspection fee.

DIY or Call Us?

Some Sterling kitchen work is genuinely safe for a careful homeowner. Tightening loose hinge screws, cleaning drawer tracks, and adjusting door alignment screws are all fair game if you have a Phillips head and some patience. Replacing a single hinge is also reasonable, as long as you match the overlay and screw pattern exactly. What’s not worth doing yourself: anything involving the sink rim seal, because a bad water seal inside the cabinet base turns into mold and floor rot you won’t see for months. If you’re pulling a composite sink that’s been mounted for 15 or more years, the mounting clips can be brittle, and one cracked clip under tension can turn a two-hour job into a weekend problem.

Cabinet hinges and glides have no dangerous tension in the way garage-door springs do, so there’s no risk of serious injury with hardware swaps. The real risk is getting the alignment wrong and having every door in the kitchen look off for the next several years. If you’d rather not spend the weekend on your hands and knees with a screwdriver, call us at (936) 259-2607. We’ll bring the right hardware the first time.
